The air was soft, but carried the message of snow soon to come inside of it, hidden away to the senses of a Human, but Sequoyah was very much able to tell. Right now, the sun was still up, and would be for a few more hours until the last of its rays would disappear into the darkness. He was letting the wind ruffle up his long silky hair, liking how refreshing it was. Padre beside him was sniffing the ground in an Attempt to find some hint of prey, and King was a bit ahead not far from them, his eyes and ears scanning for anything they could take down as prey. Sequoyah was nervous, not knowing what laid ahead was pulling on his nerves, making it almost unbearable to keep walking. On the one hand he liked the thrill of an Adventure, on the other Hand he loved to be able to Plan everything out. The Superiors were hiding their peaks in a few clouds, but otherwise the sky was completely blue, making it easy for any potential Prey to see them. Padre huffed, not being able to find any trace of life with his sense of smell. He looked at Sequoyah, then at King, then trotted towards the other Dire. Padre knew what made hunts successful was that the Pack was one mind and soul, that everyone could trust the other with their life. And as the three Tokotas did not know each other terribly well, Padre wanted to first built a bit of trust between them. Sequoyah was generally an easy going Toko, never causing much trouble, getting along with everyone quite well.

Padre softly barked at King, and like a cat, rubbed his face against the other male. King seemed surprised at first, but then cuddled with Padre a bit, before Padre barked loudly, sprinting over the Meadow they were on. At first, both King and Sequoyah, who was not next to the giant male Dire, were surprised and worried as to what caused the Brown Male to run off like that, until they saw his Posture, Butt low, spinning in circles, running sharp corners, barking like a madman. He was playing, just having fun, like in the good old puppy days, where nothing worried their minds and no one was truly able to tell them what to do, their big puppy eyes earning them instant approval and love. Not that that changed, but they indeed did grow quite a bit to say the least. King, who was the sweetest boy of them all, seemed to shake his pride off, running after Padre, chasing him, then being chased by him, happily barking all the way through. Sequoyah was not the playful type, but still he could not help but to join the two Dires, and after a few moments, he lost himself in their weird game of chase, this play of hunt, their fun way of building trust.

They played for a good while, until King came to an abrupt stop, confusing both Padre and Sequoyah. The direction of the Wind had changed, the large Dire holding his nose inside of it, sniffing for traces of whatever smell had made him stop playing so abruptly. Padre and Sequoyah did the same, raising their noses, only for Sequoyah to sneeze violently, as a disgusting smell hit his nose. Muskox. It was a smell that was not likely mistaken for anything else, so uniquely bad, it was easy to tell apart from most others. King looked at the two other males, barking loudly, as if he was giving a command. His message was clear to the both of them, he wanted to go hunt a Muskox. Padre looked at Sequoyah, insecurity written all over his face. Muskox were not exactly friendly to begin with, but if provoked, they were able to fight back quite well, their thick fur protecting them from predators Fangs and Claws, their Horns being able to do some serious damage that could often even lead to death. King walked over to them, looking each deep into the eyes. He was sure. So very sure he was able to convey it in a single glance. His confidence was contagious, and both Sequoyah and Padre imagined what a proud smile their Handlers would show them if they learned of them taking down a large Muskox.

It did not take them long to track down the Herd of Ox, high up on the Superiors, grazing peacefully, now that there had not been any snow yet, they were enjoying the grass up here, later this year they would move down to the meadows, where there was enough food for everyone, and a safe place for their calves to grow up. A large black Bull was standing guard over his females and offspring. When he spotted the three predators, he snorted loudly, weaving his head left and right, showing them his sharp pointy horns. Horns, if used wisely, could cut them open, leaving them badly wounded, bleeding out up here, where every help would come too late. Padre and Sequoyah were still unsure, but King had something about him, something primal and dangerous, something in his eyes telling them it was the right thing to follow him into this battle, someone that determined could not fail, could they? King trotted around, testing the Bulls patience. He had his eyes set on another Bull, not as old and experienced as the Male that was protecting the Herd, his fur not as thick and his horns not as sharp and intimidating. Even though he was not as old as the black Bull, he still was large, to take him down would require a lot of strength.

Their Tactic was clear: they would lure the bull away, that was Padres job, Sequoyah would chase the bull, that was hopefully inexperienced enough not to try to fight them, and King would jump on him, drag him down, and that was when Sequoyah would then grab his throat and end his life. As soon as the Herd would realise that their member was lost, they would move off and leave them alone. Padre barked and snarled loudly, jumping forward in a fake charge at the massive black bull, that made a loud angry noise, snorting and waving his head around, nodding towards Padre. This was their chance, so King positioned himself a bit down the hill as Sequoyah charged at the young bull, who was so taken by surprise, all he did was moo, stumble to his feet and run for his life. So far so good, but as the Bull ran down the Hill, the black leader charged after him, going straight for King, who stood there, frozen in shock, two huge Muskox Bulls charging at him full speed, one in fear, the other with the intention to kill him. That was when Padre jumped, seemingly out of nowhere on the large bulls back, King grabbing the young male, tackling him down by the neck, the Bull letting out a loud scream. The Herd up the Hill scattered in fear, running away, the calves in their middle. Sequoyah, as fast as he could, sprinted down the Hill, and rammed his teeth into the young Bulls throat, feeling them penetrate his skin.

It was over within seconds, one last movement of the bulls’ head, a last twitching of his legs, then he lay still and dead. Padre, who had been able to hold onto the large black Bull, jumped off of the raging ox, making sure to position himself far enough from the sharp horns the Muskox was waving around in pure anger. They all stood completely still for a second, until Honey charged forward, his eyes focused on the Bull, who, knowing his friend was dead by now, ran off, in the direction his Herd had scattered. Both Padre and Sequoyah were scared to even move for a second, King’s Body language so aggressive they were not sure if he might harm them if they dared to. But when King turned around, he wagged his tail happily, nudging both of them, prancing around the large Bull they had just taken down, all on their own. All three Tokotas jumped around in joy, celebrating their successful hunt. Oh how people would stare if they told them this story. Three Tokotas, on their own, taking on a Muskox, and a large Bull at that, and not even a lone one, no, one within a Herd protected by a vicious black Bull. Oh how they would never get tired of telling this Story.
